Dolphin News Splash 5/17/2026
Hello AP Dolphins,
Sorry for the lateness of the Splash - my house was without power most of yesterday! Here it is.
NOTES FROM THE COACH
Welcome to another busy week Dolphins! Congratulations on an amazing first meet this past weekend! We had so many best times, and all of your hard work is paying off!
There is no swim meet this weekend, so hopefully everyone can enjoy a restful and relaxing four-day weekend. There is NO swim practice on Friday or next Monday in observance of Memorial Day!
This week, we are going to focus on breaststroke and butterfly. We want to make sure we are staying legal throughout our swims. We will also continue working on our underwater pull-downs, fast turns, and strong push-offs off the walls. In addition, we’ll begin incorporating more endurance and interval training to help shave seconds off the times from last weekend. Expect a mix of endurance days and sprint/jump-out days this week!
Reminder: Meets are mandatory. If you need to leave early, please let me know in advance (or include it in the comments on SwimTopia). It takes an average of six hours to put together a swim meet lineup, and last-minute changes can be very difficult to manage on meet day (I understand sicknesses happen, just let me know as soon as you can). The best way to improve is by attending meets consistently. Meets are a great opportunity to track progress over time and spend time with teammates who are counting on you.
Meet check-in is at 6:30 AM. We had several late check-ins this past week. In order to start the meet on time, check-ins and scratches must be completed promptly. We also have to be cleaned up and out of the pool by 2:00 PM on meet days, so it is very important that the meet starts on time.
I hope everyone has a great week! See you at the pool!

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
Heads up! There will be no practice Friday, May 22 and Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day weekend.
BREWFEST – MAY 30TH 6pm-9pm
Did you get your Brewfest tickets yet? You don’t want to miss this event! There will be a taco truck, raffle prizes, and, of course, brew! So grab a friend, raise a glass, and help our Dolphins thrive in and out of the pool. The money raised from this event will go to replacing our lane lines, which is badly needed.
While we love our children, this event is ADULTS only. Tickets are available now by clicking here.
NCSL
Final reminder to register your swimmer with NCSL if you have not already. Click here to register. After you complete registration with NCSL, please email a copy to our AP Registrar at [email protected]. Not sure if you registered with NCSL? Reach out to the AP Registrar.
