Time Trials is in Two Days

Hi AP Dolphins,

DOLPHIN DUOS

If your swimmer signed up for Dolphin Duos, they can visit the Dolphin Duo table on Saturday to find out who they are paired with. The Dolphin Duo table will be setup inside the pool yard and a fun activity will be there for the Duos to do together!

SWIM CAPS

If your swimmer did not get their AP swim cap at the Welcome Back BBQ, they can pick it up when they check-in Saturday morning.

NEW TO SWIM MEETS?

Here’s a general outline of what to expect at this weekend’s Time Trials.

  • Swimmer Check-In @ 6:45am (Time Trials only)
    • The check-in tables will be near the restrooms for home meets.
    • The swimmers must check themselves in - swimmers cannot check other swimmers in.
    • Coaches will scratch no-shows at 7:00am. Make sure you are on time and checked in!
  • Volunteer Check-in @ 6:45am
    • The volunteer check-in table will be setup inside the pool yard.
    • Volunteer job questions should be directed to our Jobs Coordinator, Allison at [email protected]
  • AP Team Area - Set up an area for your family to hang out in between races (you’ll see where families are setting up when you arrive – lots of pop-ups!)
    • Bring lounge chairs, sun screen, hats, water, blankets for the ground, and activities to keep the little ones busy. Bring snacks or keep life easy and visit the AP snack bar throughout the day!
  • Swim Warm-ups
    • Make sure your swimmer is behind the diving blocks and ready before their warm-up time begins.
    • U6 warm-ups is optional. It is a little chilly in the morning and after warm-ups they will not swim for another couple hours. It may be better to stay dry.
    • Warm-up Times are as follows (below times are for Time Trials only. Dual meet warm-up times will be earlier):
      • 11 & Up - 7:15am
      • 9/10s - 7:25am
      • 7/8s - 7:35am
      • 6U - 7:40am (optional)
  • Swimmer “Mark ups” (around 8:00am)
    • Team Parents will “mark up” your swimmer with their event #s - heat #s - lane #s
    • For example, if your swimmer is in event 2 – heat 1 – lane 5 then the team parent will write 2-1-5 on their arm.
    • Team Parents can be found under the “Team Parent” Pop-ups in the AP Team Area
  • Team Meeting / Spirit! (between 8:00 and 8:15am)
    • The team (swimmers, families, and coaches) come together just outside the pool yard in the AP Team Area. Coaches will hold a quick meeting with the swimmers and then we all join in for team chants!
  • Volunteer Job Shifts
    • Reminder- you would have already checked yourself in at the volunteer check-in table at 6:45am.
    • 1st shift (AM jobs): Many 1st shifts start right before the meet starts (after the team cheer; around 8:15am) - If you are on a crew- your timing may be different, check in with your lead.
    • 2nd shift (PM jobs): Starts after backstroke and includes long freestyle, breaststroke, and butterfly.
  • The meet starts at 8:30am!
  • Swimming Schedule - The strokes occur in the following order:
  • Medley Relays (no relays at Time Trials)
  • Individual Medley – (9&up)
  • Short Freestyle (6&up)
  • Backstroke (6&up)
  • Long Free (7&up)
  • Breaststroke (7&up)
  • Butterfly (7&up)
  • Freestyle Relays (no relays at Time Trials)
    • Parents need to keep an eye on the meet events so they know when their child’s race is coming.
    • Parents need to get their swimmer to their designated Team Parent pop-up well before their event – usually 5 events before their race (a good rule of thumb is to keep an eye on the Team Parent pop-ups and when you see other swimmers start to gather, then take your child over)
    • Team Parents will then take your child to the ready bench for their race.
    • Team Parents are easily identified at the meets by their super stylish blue aprons that say “6&Under Girls Team Parent,” “9/10 Boys Team Parent,” etc.
  • Be prepared to be at the pool until around 1:30pm (estimate). U6 families can leave after the backstroke ends for all swimmers
  • Time Drops: If you haven’t already done so, you may want to download the Time Drops app. This app is a live scoreboard for meet events. The app is free but requires a code. The code will be posted at the swim meet.
  • Meet Mobile: Some families also like to have the Meet Mobile app as another means to track their swimmer’s times. This app displays meet results, placing and scoring. The app is free but has more information with the paid subscription. ($9.99/yr).
