Good Evening AP Dolphins,
NOTES FROM THE COACH
Hello Dolphins! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing 4th of July and weekend off. There is only three weeks until Championships and one dual meet left in the season! This meet will be our toughest competition this season! We NEED all Dolphins at our last swim meet of the season!
Meet Details
This weekend we will compete against the West Sacramento Dolphins at Arden Park. Sign in deadline is TONIGHT at MIDNIGHT! Make sure to declare your attendance. Check-in is at 6:30am and warm-ups start at 6:55 for 11 up! We need all Dolphins in attendance! If we win this meet we will be 1st place in our league!!
Championships
For those of you that do not know or are new to our team Championships is the end of the season meet. We will compete with all the teams in our conference (FEC, West Sacramento, Sunrise and Rocklin). This is a HUGE meet to see all the growth that has come from this season. Championships is for ALL swimmers. It is a two day event (unless you are a 6 and under, then it’s Saturday only) and all swimmers swim all events! There are prelims in the morning and then there are finals in the afternoon (top 10 swimmers in each event make finals).
In the past we have had a low turnout for Champs. Here are the TOP REASONS WHY WE GO TO CHAMPS...
- THIS IS THE TIME TO SET YOUR PERSONAL BEST RECORD! You have been working hard all season. It is amazing to see how far swimmers have come in four months. That feeling of looking up at the scoreboard and seeing a number faster than you thought was possible of yourself. When you shave a heap of time off of your best time and set a new personal record. You now expect more and better from yourself. This is the ultimate feedback for how you have trained all season!
- YOUR TEAM IS COUNTING ON YOU! If you have been in a relay all season long, your relay team is counting on you! You are letting down three other swimmers because now we have to put someone different in your place. The little kids look up to all the older swimmers. Younger swimmers love to cheer on the big kids and see how fast they are. They look up to you, we don't want to let them down.
- IT'S FUN! TEAM BONDING! The reason we swim all season is for Champs! This is the biggest meet of our season! You get to watch parents and coaches do a relay! You get to hang out with your friends all day long! We do a pasta feed and a shave down (for the older kids). We decorate cars and windows. The Friday before we do a special "lucky" breakfast. Championships is a team atmosphere. We want our whole team there!
- TEACHES THE VALUE OF HARD WORK! This is the time to set goals and crush them! You are swimming against swimmers of the same ability. Most swimmers in your heats will be within a second of your time. Now is your time to show them what you are made of. This is how we finish out the season. Knowing we did our best and finished what we started four months ago.
- FINALS! The top ten swimmers in each stroke go to the Final! Two relays automatically go to finals. If you make it into finals you get a Medal! The sense of accomplishment swimmers feel when they never thought they would final in something and do is indescribable!
In order to compete in the Championship meet, swimmers must attend at least 2 dual meets in the season (this does not include time trials). Practices starting July 14th are designed for swimmers going to Championships! We will also have some fun team annual events leading up to Champs: movie day, lucky charms breakfast, shave down, pasta night, car decorating... to name a few.
Our athletes have worked so hard over the last four months. Let's make sure we finish the season out strong and show the Eureka Conference we are a force to be reckoned with! We NEED ALL Dolphins at Championships! Last year we got 2nd place in League Championships by 30 points (that's 2 relays)! Make sure you are there to show your team spirit!!! Championship sign-in is NOW OPEN! Go in and declare attendance ASAP! Champs sign-in deadline is July 13, 2025 at 11:30pm so be sure to sign-in before then.
Meet Of Champions
For those of you who have swimmers who just can’t get enough swimming, there is an opportunity to swim in the 2025 Meet of Champions on August 2 and 3 at the Roseville Aquatic Complex. Last year was our biggest group in attendance (35 athletes!), let's see if we can beat that! The Meet of Champions is an All-Star Swim Meet that brings together the top Recreational/Summer League Swimmers from the greater Sacramento Valley Area for a true Meet of Champions. It is run very much like our own conference championship meet. This is a qualifying meet only! You can qualify by time or you can qualify by making a final in our league Championships! It is a quick turn around between our Championships and Meet of Champions. There is an additional cost ($40) to swim in the Meet of Champions, the registration will be open soon on their website http://www.meetofchampions.com/ . Please make sure you let me know if you plan on attending this event. More information will be out soon.
