Dolphin News Splash 5/4/25
Good Evening AP Dolphins,
Swimo de Mayo
Our AP Dolphin families did an incredible job this year at our Swimo de Mayo event! Thank you for all your hard work fundraising, counting laps, and making it a memorable event. With your help, we have currently raised over $21,000 for our team! The 99 Pledges portal will remain open until midnight tonight so if you have any last-minute donations, please make sure to enter those ASAP.
Registration fees alone do not cover the full cost of operating the team. Every dollar raised through Swimo de Mayo will go towards supporting our coaches, facilities, equipment, insurance, and meet operations. This will help us to continue maintaining a high-quality program while keeping the Arden Park Dolphins affordable and accessible for all families.
Once fundraising closes, we will begin tallying up totals (laps, $$ raised, etc.). Keep an eye out for this information in next week’s newsletter to see who will be our Coach for the Day this year!
If you have questions about the event, please email Ashley at [email protected].
Notes From the Coach
It's hard to believe we are 5 days out from time trials! The first month has flown by! If you are attending time trials, please make sure to update your status in SwimTopia to ATTENDING by Wednesday evening (for all other meets this needs to be completed by Sunday at midnight)!!! If you do not commit to the meet, swimmers will not be placed in a heat/lane. Please make sure this is completed by the deadline. You are able to commit to all meets in Swimtopia, you can edit if you need to throughout the season.
To update your meet status, please follow these directions:
Login to your Swimtopia account – Upcoming Event (on the right side of the home
page) – AP Time Trials – Meet Entry (green button) – choose “Attending this
meet” or “Not attending this meet.” You can also click here
to get to the Upcoming Events page.
This week’s practices will be a combination of all strokes. We will continue to
work on starts and finishes as well as lots of freestyle flip turns and IM for
9 and up. We will also be practicing our team cheers this week!
If you are unable to make time trials, coaches will be getting times during practice over the next couple of weeks. I know there are some conflicts with other sports schedules, if you are able to make it to time trials for a couple hours please come! When you edit your commitment add a note in the note section (will arrive at.... or has to leave by...). With 215 swimmers and up to 6 events per swimmer, coaches would like to get as many times as we can at time trials. Have a great week!
Have a great week!
Sabrina Henley
AP Dolphins Head Coach

Brewfest
Brewfest is back! You don’t want to miss this fun parents-only event. It’s a great time to hang with friends and meet new swim families. Brewfest will be Saturday, May 17th from 6:00-9:00 at Arden Park. There will be music, tacos, a silent auction, and plenty of spirits. See the flyer attached to this email or go ahead and click here to purchase tickets (please purchase tickets by 5/11).
AP Beach Towels
Did you forget to order your swimmer an AP beach towel?!? If so, you are in luck! We are extending the deadline until this Tuesday (5/6/25). But that will be the absolute last day to order the towels so we can get them by mid-June. Towels can be purchased from the team store. Personalized towels are $50 and non-personalized are $45.
Snack Bar
Hello new and returning Dolphin swim families! Christina Joyce here, head snack bar chef and team VP. I wanted to send out a note about snack bar at time trials this year. My son, Coach Preston, has a jazz band competition in NYC this weekend and we will not be here to run the snack bar. Thankfully we have an AMAZING community of volunteers that will keep things going! We will have a condensed menu, mainly focusing on breakfast items (breakfast burritos, pancakes and of course, donuts!) since the meet is shorter than normal. We will have lunch items but not the usual choices you’ve become accustomed to. Don’t worry!! All of your favorite menu items will return for our next home meet! We will also be trying out some new menu items thanks to some suggestions we got at the Welcome Back BBQ. I am always open to new ideas!! Please share your thoughts ([email protected]).
Dine & Donate – Mendocino Farms
Our 1st Dine & Donate of the season is coming up on May 15th at Mendocino Farms. See the attached flyer for more details.
Job Sign-Ups is Open
If you have not had a chance to sign-up for volunteer jobs, please do so as soon as possible. Job Sign-ups are available on our team website https://www.apdolphins.org. If you have questions about Job Sign-ups, please email Allison at [email protected].
Attention Stroke & Turn AND Starter Volunteers
The NCSL (hosted by Sunrise Sharks) is offering a clinic for stroke & turn and starter volunteers on Wednesday 5/30/25 at 6:30pm at Rusch Community Park (meet at the dive tank bleachers inside the pool). For all interested in learning what a Stroke & Turn Judge does, or even just to learn more of the rules of swim, this a great chance to get all your questions answered! You'll be meeting with USA officials who will explain everything and then go down to the pool for live demos. Please consider attending this training if you are interested in trying stroke & turn this year! Click here for detailed information.
For information about additional trainings/clinics, please reach out to Laura Sperry ([email protected]) or Sam Mockford ([email protected]) with any questions about Stroke & Turn.
