Dolphin News Splash 3/31/2025 Practice Starts Tomorrow!

Hello AP Dolphins,

The 1st day of practice is TOMORROW! We are so excited to see all of our swimmers at the pool. A quick weather reminder – practice will only be cancelled if thunder and/or lightning are present OR it is raining so hard that the coaches cannot see the bottom of the pool. Please look out for emails that will alert swimmers to a cancelled practice.

Practices will be Monday-Friday (no practice today) with times as follows:

  • 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm – 6&Unders
  • 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm – 7/8s
  • 5:45 pm - 6:30 pm – 9/10s
  • 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm – 11/12s
  • 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm – 13s and up (Fridays will be 11s and up from 6:30-7:30)

Notes from the Coach

  • The 1st day of practice will be an introduction to swim team and a review of rules and expectations for all swimmers.
    • 6&U swimmers will not get in the pool on the 1st day as they learn the rules and expectations of swim team.
    • 7/8 swimmers will only be in the pool for approximately 10 minutes
    • 9/10 swimmers will only be in the pool for approximately 15 minutes
  • Please try to make as many practices as possible in the first few weeks as practices will build off of each other as coaches continue to teach practice/safety rules in the pool and begin to teach beginning swim mechanics.
  • Coaches ask that parents please stay off the pool deck during practices and refrain from talking to your swimmers during practice. There are a lot of swimmers in the pool, which can already make it a difficult listening environment for the swimmers. It is important that your swimmer’s full attention is on the coaches and what they are saying. Thank you for understanding.
  • Swimmers should come to practice in appropriate swimwear, including one-piece racing suits and/or jammers. Swimmers should bring goggles and swimmers with long hair should wear swim caps.
  • All swimmers will be using swim fins to build strength. Check out these fins on Amazon for an example of acceptable swim fins for practice (FINIS Long Floating Fins, Speedo Unisex Adult Swim Training Fins, Foyinbet Kids Swim Fins). Your child’s swim fins should fit snug or they will fall off in the water. Swim fins will be used during practices starting this Wednesday so please order some as soon as possible. Please make sure your swimmer’s fins are swim fins and not diving fins. Short fins are also acceptable. If you are unsure about what fins to purchase for your swimmer, please check with the coaches on the 1st day of practice.
  • There have been a few requests about swimmers coming to different age group practices if they have a time conflict. Unfortunately, that will not be possible as most age groups are full. Please only come to your swimmer’s assigned practice time.
  • Per Arden Park Rec’s rules – please no dogs inside the pool area.
